Man assaulted, robbed on fake Grindr date; Three arrested months later
Three 17-year-old boys were arrested on suspicion of assaulting and robbing a 47-year-old man in Bilthoven on August 19th. The victim went to the scene because of a date he made through dating app Grindr.
The man, from Soest, met his date at a parking lot in Bilthoven as agreed through the app. The two walked into the forest on Dwarspad, where five other young men were waiting for them. .
The victim was threatened with a baseball bat and a firearm. He was severely assaulted and forced to give up his phone, money, debit card and PIN. The group of young men fled after robbing him.
Last week the police discussed this case on Opsporing Verzocht. Investigators received five tips after this broadcast, which helped them identify the three suspects, according to RTV Utrecht. The police are still looking for three other suspects.
