Police say a 17-year-old was shot early Tuesday morning in Bergen op Zoom, Noord-Brabant. Few details were revealed about the incident, which took place shortly after 1:15 a.m.

The victim sustained a gunshot wound to the leg when he was on the Prinses Irenestraat, police said. He was transported to an area hospital. His condition was not released.

The gun used in the incident was not found. A police dog was being used to find the weapon and any spent shell casings.

Police were actively looking to speak with anyone with knowledge of the incident, and had already conducted several witness interviews by 9:30 a.m. Officers also took possession of security camera footage.

The investigation into the case is ongoing, police said.
