Grenade shaped grinder sends emergency services responding to Utrecht town

Reports of a possible explosive in a parking lot in a residential area in Maarssen sent emergency services responding to the Utrecht town en masse on Monday morning. But it turned out to be a false alarm, NU.nl reports.

The Ministry of Defense's explosives disposal experts later determined that the object was in fact a weed grinder shaped like a hand grenade.

After the discovery, the police closed down a large part of the Kamelenspoor neighborhood. The street was released again after the explosives experts determined that the "explosive" was harmless.

A grinder is used to grind, sieve and store cannabis.
