Arrested scammer the father of baby found dead in Amsterdam bushes: report
A 30-year-old man arrested recently arrested for scamming multiple women by posing as the 'ideal marriage candidate', is almost certainly the father of a newborn baby found dead in bushes along the Sloterplas in Amsterdam in 2016, Het Parool reports. A spokesperson for the police confirmed this to RTL Nieuws.
A passerby found the newborn boy on June 8th, 2016. The child's body was hidden in a sports bag, dressed in a romper and wrapped in a cloth. Through a DNA investigation, the police established that the child's parents may come from the northern edges of the Mediterranean or Northern Africa.
For nearly two years the police searched for the baby boy's parents. In June 2018 the boy's father was identified through a DNA kinship investigation. The baby's mother was identified a few weeks later. The 25-year-old woman from Amsterdam West was arrested on suspicion of involvement in her baby's death and hiding his body.
