Fire in Vianen care center; one killed

One person died in a fire at healthcare center Hof van Batestein complex in Vianen on Monday morning. The fire started in a room on the third floor at around 4:30 a.m. Firefighters found the victim in the room after extinguishing the fire, NOS reports.

The fire department quickly got the fire under control. Due to smoke, the residents of other rooms on the third floor were evacuated.

The cause of the fire is not yet clear. The police and fire department are investigating.
