Suspect in Dutch boy''s murder back in the Netherlands

Jos B., the man suspected of involvement in the murder of 11-year-old Nicky Verstappen in 1998, was extradited to the Netherlands on Thursday. He was picked up in Barcelona with a Cessna aircraft, which landed at Schiphol airport at 4:45 p.m., NOS reports.

B. is currently in custody in the prison in Vught. On Friday he will appear before the investigating magistrate. After that the police will question him, according to the broadcaster. B. is represented by lawyer Gerald Roethof, who also represented the relatives of Mitch Henriquez.

The 55-year-old man from Simpelveld is suspected of involvement in the sexual assault and murder of 11-year-old Nicky Verstappen in Brunssummerheide in 1998. He was linked to the crime through DNA traces found on the boy's clothes. A large DNA kinship investigation was done to find the perpetrator of this crime. B. did not participate in this investigation, but members of his family did.

B. was arrested in a remote area around 50 kilometers from Barcelona on August 26th.
