Three homemade explosives thrown at Turkish consulate in Amsterdam
Three homemade explosives were thrown at the Turkish consulate on Museumplein in Amsterdam on Saturday night, causing a small fire. No one was injured. A 34-year-old man was arrested, RTL Nieuws reports.
The suspect is a Dutch man, according to Tolga Orkun, the Turkish consul general in Amsterdam. The police could not confirm this to RTL.
According to Orkun, surveillance camera footage shows that the attacker threw tree self-made explosives at the building. The first landed burning in the garden, the second at the main entrance. The third did not cause any damage. The explosives consisted of spray cans taped together, Orkun said to Turkish news site TRT Haber.
The suspect was arrested a short time after the incident. The police fired a warning shot during the arrest.
