No terrorism motive in Pinkpop fatal crash, Prosecutor says

The 34-year-old man suspected of a fatal hit-and-run in Landgraaf on Monday, had no terrorist motives, the Public Prosecutor said on Tuesday based on the investigation so far, ANP reports.

The investigation is still ongoing. The Public Prosecutor and police are still doing technical investigation, speaking to witnesses and questioning the suspect. No further information can be made public at this time, in the interest of the investigation.

The incident happened just after 4:00 a.m. on Monday, on Mensheggerweg, near Pinkpop's campsite B. A white van hit four people. A 35-year-old man from Heerlen was killed. He was working as a volunteer at Pinkpop. The three others - a 30-year-old man from Landgraaf, a 26-year-old man from Heerlen and a 23-year-old woman from Heerlen - are still in hospital in critical condition. The suspect drove off after the accident, but turned himself in to the police in Amsterdam later on Monday.

Witnesses told RTL Nieuws and AD that the victims were sitting in the road when the accident happened.
