Video: Cyclist killed in hit-and-run near Friesland village; Police looking for motorist

A cyclist died after being hit by a car near the Friesland village of Burdaard overnight. The driver fled the scene. The police are looking for them.

At 00:17 a.m. on Thursday, the police received a report of a seriously injured person on Iedyk in Burdaard. It proved to be a cyclist who had been hit by a car. First responders tried to resuscitate the victim, but it was to no avail. They died at the scene, the Friesland police reported on X.

The police found the mirror and part of a bumper of a black car at the scene. On the citizens’ notification system, Burgernet, the police asked locals in Burdaard to keep an eye out for a black car with severe damage, mostly to its right side.

Investigators also asked witnesses or anyone else with relevant information to come forward.
