
Man on disability vehicle seriously injured in hit-and-run; suspect arrested
A 55-year-old man riding a disability vehicle - an electric three wheeled bike - was seriously injured in a hit-and-run accident during the night from Saturday to Sunday. The police arrested a 24-year-old man from Hoeven on Sunday.
According to the police, the victim was found seriously injured on Noordzeedijk between Stampersgat and Dinteloord by passersby around 4:20 a.m. on Sunday. The passersby called the emergency services, and the man from Dinteloord was rushed to hospital by ambulance.
At the scene of the accident, the police found a side mirror and hub cap of a silver-gray Ford Focus. The police spread the description of the car to the public, and a tip led to the arrest of the 24-year-old suspect. A breathalyzer showed that he was under the influence of alcohol, according to the police.
