Approaching thunderstorms trigger code yellow weather warning
Meteorological institute KNMI issued a code yellow weather warning for thunderstorms in the Netherlands on Tuesday afternoon and evening. Storms accompanied by strong winds and hail are expected to cause traffic problems during evening rush hour.
The code yellow warning is in effect for the entire country, starting on the west coast from 4:00 p.m. The storms are expected to leave through the north east of the country around midnight.
The storms may be accompanied by wind gusts up to 95 kilometers per hour, hail of around 2 centimeters and lightning. "Avoid open water and open areas, don't shelter under trees", the KNMI warns.
