Two overnight shootings in Amsterdam; two hurt
Amsterdam was rocked by two shootings within hours of each other. A man was seriously injured in a shooting in Amsterdam Nieuw-West on Thursday night. The second shooting happened in Amsterdam Noord early on Friday morning. Another man was hurt, the police said on Twitter
The first shooting happened on Piet Mondriaanstraat around 10:15 p.m. on Thursday. Local residents told AT5 that the victims is a boy around the age of 19 years. Someone opened fire on him near the crossing with Jan Tooropstraat, according to the broadcaster. He was found seriously injured near a porch. The victim was rushed to hospital. The police are investigating.
The second shooting happened on Johan van Hasseltweg around 4:45 a.m. on Friday. The shooting happened outside, bullet casings were found on the street. The severity of the victim's injuries is unclear, but according to the police he was conscious and talking when taken to hospital. The police are investigating.
As far as is known, no arrests have been made in either shooting.
