Man gunned down in front of Breda home

A man was shot several times in front of a home on Jan David Zocherstraat in Breda early on Thursday morning. He was rushed to the hospital with serious injuries. The gunman is still at large, Omroep Brabant reports.

A neighbor told the broadcaster that she heard "three clear shots" around 00:45 a.m. and then a car speeding away.

The police, an ambulance and a trauma helicopter responded. The victim was rushed to the hospital, and police launched an investigation. According to Omroep Brabant, police officers were investigating at the scene until around 4:30 a.m. A sniffer dog was sent from The Hague to help find trace evidence.

According to the police, the victim is a 32-year-old man registered in the municipality of Oosterhout. "But it can easily be that he regularly stays in the house in Breda", a spokesperson said to the broadcaster.

So far nothing is known about the motive for the shooting.
