Rabobank employee arrested for failed robbery
A Rabobank employee was arrested in connection with a failed robbery in Zundert last week. The police believe the bank employee tipped robbers when clients left the bank with large amounts of money, a spokesperson for the Public Prosecutor confirmed to NU.nl.
On Friday the police managed to stop a robbery on Bredaseweg in Zundert by forcing a van off the road. Five people were arrested. Four, aged 32, 36, 38 and 41 years, are from Breda. The fifth suspect is a 42-year-old from Oosterhout. The police shot one suspect in the arm. A 24-year-old man from Breda was arrested on Friday night when he turned himself in.
The arrested Rabobank employee does not work in the Zundert branch, according to NU.nl. The Prosecutor would not comment on where the person is employed in the interest of the investigation.
The police also believe that this failed robbery and the Rabobank employee are connected to a robbery on Peperstraat in Venlo on July 19th. A 63-year-old man was robbed of a large amount of money shortly after leaving the bank, according to NOS. He was not injured. A burning van was found nearby after the robbery.
According to newspaper AD, one of the suspects arrested on Friday is the former president of the No Surrender chapter in Breda. This same man was kidnapped by five other No Surrender members in the parking lot of Ikea in Breda last year.
Another of the suspects was previously also arrested on suspicion of involvement in the kidnapping of Gino Heeren and Rien de Koning in Breda in December 2015. He was in custody for only a short time.
