One year later, police still search for family of baby found dead in lake

Exactly a year after the body of a baby was found hidden in some bushes along the Sloterplas in Amsterdam, the police are still trying to find out what happened to the newborn boy and who his parents are. In a new attempt to identify the parents, the police placed a message to the baby's mother at his grave in the Sint Barbara cemetery on Spaarndammerdijk, NU.nl reports.

"Mother of the Sloterplas baby, if you come to visit your baby's grave, we would like to speak with you and help you. Please contact us", the laminated paper reads.

A DNA investigation revealed that the baby boy is likely of Mediterranean descent. According to the Telegraaf, the team of detectives working on this case is currently busy with a more extensive DNA study. A spokesperson for the police denied this to NU.nl. "It is true that the baby's DNA was taken and is in our database. We hope for a match, but there is no kinship investigation."
