Armed home invasion leaves Limburg dad dead

A man was killed while struggling with two armed men who entered his home in Landgraaf, Limburg during the early hours of Wednesday morning. He bled out after being stabbed. His girlfriend and three children were left unharmed, the police said in a statement.

According to the police, the first investigation shows that the man let the robbers in. There was a struggle and the victim was stabbed as his girlfriend watched. The girlfriend was left unharmed. As were three children sleeping upstairs. The perpetrators fled through the back of the house, leaving the victim bleeding heavily.

The police responded to reports of an armed robbery at a home on Koempel around 1:45 a.m. They found the severely wounded man. "The police tried to resuscitate, but to no avail", the statement reads. According to the police, it is unclear whether the robbers took anything.

The police offered shelter to the girlfriend and children. The area around the home was closed down for a trace evidence investigation. The investigation only started hours after the crime due to personnel problems, according to the police.
