Prosecutor: Keep hooligans in custody until after Feyenoord vs Heracles match
The Public Prosecutor wants to keep 30 men and boys arrested during the riots that broke out after Feyenoord lost to Excelsior on Sunday, in custody for another two weeks. Should the Prosecutor get his way, they will miss Feyenoord's last chance of winning the Dutch title in a match against Heracles this coming Sunday, RTL Nieuws reports.
The suspects are between the ages of 14 and 45. They are all suspected of throwing fireworks, stones or whatever they had to hand at police officers in Rotterdam following the Feyenoord-Excelsior match.
The magistrate will decide whether or not to keep them in custody later on Wednesday.
A total of 104 people were arrested in the disturbances. Most of them have since been released. Though they have been banned from coming close to De Kuip and Coolsingel during the match on Sunday, as well as during the celebratory ceremony on Monday if Feyenoord wins.
The police are studying surveillance camera footage to find and identify other suspects.
