Six people accused of rioting at the Turkish consulate in Rotterdam will be prosecuted for violent crimes, the Dutch public prosecutor’s office announced on Friday. Violence around the March 11 expulsion of a prominent Turkish politician came to a boiling point a few hours after it became clear she would not be allowed to speak at a rally in front of the consulate.

A German court sentenced 21-year-old Peike S. from Amsterdam to 2 years and 7 months in prison for his involvement in riots around the G20 summit in Hamburg last month. He was found guilty of severe bodily injury, seriously disrupting the peace and resisting arrest, ANP reports.

At least two Dutch people were arrested in Germany in connection with riots around the G20 summit in Hamburg over the weekend, the Hamburg police confirmed, according to RTL Nieuws.

One of the Dutch detainees is a 33-year-old man from Nijmegen. He was still in custody by Tuesday night. The man asked for assistance from the Netherlands and is receiving that from the Dutch consulate in Dusseldorf, a spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said to the broadcaster.

The G20 summit is starting in Hamburg today and the Netherlands is participating for the first time in seven years, at the invitation of German chancellor Angela Merkel. And while the Netherlands is excited about taking part in the summit, Prime Minister Mark Rutte and his delegation may face some uncomfortable questions, given the Netherlands' reputation as 'tax haven'.

The police released photos of another 10 men suspected of violence during riots that broke out in Rotterdam city center on Sunday after Feyenoord lost to Excelsior. On Wednesday the police published photos of 12 suspects, seven of whom were arrested by Thursday evening, according to the Telegraaf.

The municipality of Rotterdam decided to ban shops in the city center from selling alcohol on Sunday, when Feyenoord is playing against Heracles for the Dutch title. On Wednesday the police published photos of 12 men suspected of violence during riots in Rotterdam this past Sunday after Feyenoord lost against Excelsior. So far three suspects turned themselves in, according to the Telegraaf.

All 12 men are suspected of public violence. The photos of those who turned themselves in have since been removed from the police site.

The Public Prosecutor wants to keep 30 men and boys arrested during the riots that broke out after Feyenoord lost to Excelsior on Sunday, in custody for another two weeks. Should the Prosecutor get his way, they will miss Feyenoord's last chance of winning the Dutch title in a match against Heracles this coming Sunday, RTL Nieuws reports.

The suspects are between the ages of 14 and 45. They are all suspected of throwing fireworks, stones or whatever they had to hand at police officers in Rotterdam following the Feyenoord-Excelsior match.

The Rotterdam police are studying surveillance camera footage of riots that broke out in the city after Feyenoord lost 3-0 to Excelsior on Sunday. They are looking for hooligans who were violent during the disturbances, so that they can be arrested to prevent them from ruining the atmosphere during the next Feyenoord match in Rotterdam on Sunday, RTL Nieuws reports.

The police will publish the photos of these rioters on their site. It mainly involves people who acted violently towards the police or other persons.

From Wednesday next week until Sunday Dutch-Turks can vote in a Turkish referendum in the Netherlands. This can be done in Amsterdam, The Hague and Deventer. The national police and local authorities will be on high alert during these voting days, especially after riots at the Turkish embassy in Brussels on Thursday, NRC reports.

Rotterdam mayor Ahmed Aboutaleb was very concerned that protests around the Turkish consulate in his city this weekend would devolve into a shooting. He therefore deployed special, armed officers to intervene if the situation got out of hand, Aboutaleb said to Nieuwsuur. "In order to be sure that if it came to an encounter, we would have the upper hand."

The police arrested multiple people in the Zaandam neighborhood of Poelenburg on Monday night. The exact number of arrests are unclear, as are reason they were arrested. The Volkskrant reports that four troublemakers were arrested. According to the Twitter account of police officer Mike Koenekoop, 8 arrests were made.

Sjors Nikkels can still feel the powerlessness he felt when he watched the riot police hit his girlfriend Saskia van Kessel during the anti-asylum center riots in Geldermalsen on Wednesday night. Saskia is still in the hospital with a brain injury.

The asylum debate riots in Geldermalsen were terrible, but incidents like that are at least the exception, not the rule. Generally the reception of asylum seekers is going really well, according to researcher Leo Lucassen, professor in migration.
