Victim in fatal Utrecht stabbing linked to asylum center

A man killed in a stabbing on Wijnesteinlaan in Utrecht on Wednesday was linked to the nearby Macruscentrum for failed asylum seekers, according to RTV Utrecht. The broadcaster could not say whether the victim was an employee at the center, or an asylum seeker. The police could not confirm this.

The victim was found severely wounded on the street in Hoograven around 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday. Emergency services responded, but the man could not be saved. He died at the scene.

Shortly after the incident the police called on local residents to keep an eye out for a suspect. The suspect was still at large on Thursday morning.
