A 10-year-old girl from Eritrea died in a hospital in Maastricht on Thursday after she fell from a window of the asylum center in Heerlen on Saturday, a spokesperson for the central agency for the reception of asylum seekers COA confirmed to De Gelderlander.
The girl fell from a first floor window, and very unluckily landed on her head. She was rushed to the academic hospital in Maastricht with serious injuries.
Two people were injured in a stabbing at an center for asylum seekers in Oisterwijk on Friday morning. One of the two victims was transported to an area hospital under police guard, a witness at the scene told broadcaster Omroep Brabant.
The other victim had a leg injury that was treated at the scene. The witness told the broadcaster there was a “large puddle of blood.”

The Rotterdam-Beverwaard asylum center will stop taking in asylum seekers from safe countries following a number of incidents involving such asylum seekers in the center, Mayor Ahmed Aboutaleb wrote in a letter to the city council. According to the police, the victim is a young man living in a nearby asylum center. He was swimming with some other residents fo the center when he disappeared under water.
The municipality of Weert is having a crisis debate on Wednesday regarding problems with criminal asylum seekers staying in the local asylum center. The municipality will discuss this issue with the central agency for the reception of asylum seekers COA, the Public Prosecutor, the police and the Repatriation and Departure Service, ANP reports.
Three people were arrested in the asylum center in Weert on Monday evening on suspicion of violence and vandalism. Initial reports stated that a man was threatening others with a firearm, but the police emphasize that this was not the case, the Telegraaf reports.
