Body found in Enschede forest

On Wednesday afternoon two hikers discovered the body of a man in Hartjesbos along Weerseloseweg in Enschede. The police have not released any information on who the victim is or how he died, only saying that it is an adult male, AD reports.

According to the newspaper, the local authorities were investigating at the scene late into the night. The remains were moved to a morgue around 7:00 p.m. Various technical and forensic investigators were at the scene and a helicopter flew from Schiphol to Enschede to make recordings from the air. Sniffer dogs searched the woods. Both the police and fire department placed investigation containers on the shoulder along Weerseloseweg.

The body was found a few meters away from a dirt road in the Hartjesbos. The forest is popular with hikers and mountain bikers.
