Taxi driver fined €10,000 euros for illegal passenger transport at Schiphol
The Environment and Transport Inspectorate issued a 10 thousand euro fine to a taxi driver at Schiphol airport on Saturday night. He was caught drivng passengers around using someone else's taxi license, Het Parool reports.
This fine was part of a large scale taxi inspection the Inspectorate did at the airport on Saturday. A number of fines were also handed out to taxi drivers who had gone too long without taking a break. To ensure road safety, taxi drivers have to take mandatory rest time.
Last week the Inspectorate and the Koninklijke Marechaussee - a policing force that works as part of the Dutch military and is responsible for airport security - also checked a number of taxis at the airport. An illegal driver was caught and given a 12 thousand euros fine.
