The Netherlands can expect a cold and rainy day on Thursday, according to meteorological institute KNMI. The southern half of the country may even see between 10 and 20 mm of rain. During the course of the night, the rain is expected to turn into snow.

According to the meteorological institute, the morning will start out cloudy with scattered showers. The cloud cover and rain will increase during the course of the day. Tonight the center, east and south of the country can expect enough snow to at least emporarily cover the ground. Maximum temperatures will be around 7 degrees.

The KNMI issued a code yellow weather warning about icy and slippery roads caused by the snow for tonight. The warning affects the provinces Noord-Brabant, Utrecht, Gelderland and Overijssel between 9:00 p.m. and 2:00 a.m.

Tomorrow will again be cloudy and rainy, with a chance of thundershowers along the coast. During the afternoon there may again be some snowfall. Maximum temperatures will be around 5 degrees.
