Bullet holes found in Islamic primary school in Amsterdam

Shots were fired at Islamic primary school As-Siddieq in Amsterdam-Noord over the Christmas holidays. At least eight bullet holes were found in the building, AT5 reports.

Pictures show bullet holes in the walls and doors of the school. A bullet hole was also found in the window of one of the bathrooms. "Parents and teachers no longer feel safe", a parent said to the Amsterdam broadcaster.

It seems the shots were fired over New Year's. An employee of the school found the bullet holes around that time and called the police.

The motive behind the shooting is not clear. The police confirmed to broadcaster that shots were fired at the school. At this stage detectives assume vandalism to be the motive. An investigation is ongoing.

As-Siddieq has three schools in Amsterdam.
