Disturbed man arrested for Rotterdam Airport terrorism threat
On Thursday night the police arrested a 45-year-old mentally disturbed man in the investigation into a terrorism threat made against Rotterdam The Hague Airport in Rotterdam on Thursday morning. According to the police, the suspect is an undocumented migrant with a history of making false reports, NU.nl reports
The threat resulted in the police closing down the roads around the airport and doing extra security checks. The police and Koninklijke Marechaussee - a policing force that works as a branch of the Dutch military - also decided to revise security measures at the airport.
The extra security measures had little effect on the day to day business of the airport. Air traffic also continued as scheduled and passengers arriving and departing hardly noticed that anything was amiss, according to NU.nl.
