Woman arrested in arson that killed mother, injured children
A 47-year-old woman from Emmen was arrested in connection with arson in a home on Weytackers in which a 31-year-old mother Jessica Wever was killed, RTV Drenthe reports.
The fire happened during the early hours of February 17th. The victim's two daughters, ages 8 and 6 years old, were critically injured, but survived. According to the broadcaster, the two girls are still in hospital.
According to RTV Drenthe, the woman arrested is the neighbor of the victim. The motive is unclear. "We haven't questioned the woman yet", a spokesperson said to the broadcaster. "So it is too early to say anything about what happened." The woman has a criminal record.
The police suspected from early in the investigation that arson was involved.
