Three arrested after wild chase through Amsterdam streets
Reports of shots fired led to a wild chase through Amsterdam-West and the eventual arrest of three men on Thursday night, the police said in a statement on Friday.
After receiving a report of shots being fired, the police launched a search for the getaway car described in the report. Officers noticed it on Sloterdijkweg and signaled it to stop.
The driver ignored the instruction and sped off. The police gave case, reaching speeds of 100 km/h in residential areas.
In an effort to force the car off the road on Haarlemmerweg, the car and a police car collided, causing minor damage to both. One of those in the car jumped out and was arrested. The others sped off again.
The car was later found abandoned on a parking lot on Seineweg. In the area the police arrested two other men, believed to be the other occupants of the car. All three suspects, age 23, 24 and 25 are in custody.
The police are investigating the shooting as well as the suspects' involvement therein.
