MH17 investigation may be rounded off this year
The criminal investigation into the disaster with flight MH17 may be done by the end of this year, Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak said when he received Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko, according to BNR.
The investigation is conducted by the Joint investigation team, consisting of police and judiciary from the Netherlands, Australia, Belgium, Ukraine and Malaysia. The investigators are looking int, among other things, what type of weapon was used to shoot down the Malaysia Airlines flight and exactly where the missile was fired from. The ultimate aim is to identified those behind the attack.
Once the criminal investigation is done, the five involved countries will discuss how to continue. Then only can the real hunt for the perpetrators being.
In June the Dutch Public Prosecutor issued a statement saying they hope to present the first results of the criminal investigation after the summer.
