The Nuon Solar Team from Delft won the Bridgestone World Solar Challenge in Australia for the 7th time. The Delft team's Nuna9 solar car crossed the finish line in Adelaide around 6:45 a.m. on Thursday, Dutch time, De Stentor reports.

This was the 14th edition of the official world championship for solar car racing.

The countries participating in the criminal investigation into the MH17 disaster, confirmed their support and cooperation to that investigation and the prosecution of those responsible on paper. The Foreign Affairs Ministers of the five countries in the Joint investigation team - Netherlands, Australia, Belgium, Malaysia and Ukraine - signed the agreements they made on this front on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in New York on Wednesday.

An criminal gang suspected of trafficking hard drugs from the Netherlands to Australia was arrested in an international police action, the Dutch Public Prosecutor announced on Tuesday. A total of 17 suspects were arrested, including two Dutch.

A 33-year-old man from Utrecht and a 47-year-old man from Huizen were arrested in the Netherlands on Tuesday. The Dutch police became involved in this case, called Operation Veyda, after the Australian police asked the Netherlands to investigate the origin of drugs trafficked to the country.

Prime Minister Mark Rutte is pleased that those responsible for downing flight MH17 calling the decision the "next step on the way to finding the truth." The Dutch government is also signing a treaty with the Ukraine on Friday that will allow for prosecution on behalf of all 298 victims, not only the 196 Dutch, AD reports.

Those responsible for downing f over eastern Ukraine in 2014, will stand trial in the Netherlands, the five countries most involved with the disaster decided on Tuesday night. The decision follows long consultation between the countries, the Volkskrant reports.

The Australian police released a photo of two men wanted in connection with the sexual assault of a 27-year-old Dutch woman on the Sydney Harbour Bridge late last month. The police only say that the pictured men could "assist with inquiries", so it is not clear whether they are suspects or possible witnesses.

The Netherlands will provide the first space outside the United States to test engines for the Joint Strike Fighter jet programme, the Dutch Defense ministry announced on Thursday. A test facility will be built in Woensdrecht, Noord-Brabant with equipment, spare parts and training provided by engine manufactuer Pratt & Whitney.

The ministry, Noord-Brabant as well as the Economic Affairs ministry will invest in a maintenance workshop and testing ground. It is expected to provide work for specialists through 2049, the Defense ministry stated.

The Dutch tax authorities' investigative service FIOD received details of 3,800 Dutch with hidden assets and savings in Swiss bank accounts from an anonymous source, AD reports. Based on this information, FIOD launched an international hunt for Dutch tax evaders on Thursday.

According to the Tax Authorities, the details about hidden assets in Swiss bank accounts can be compared to the Panama Papers that leaked last year. All 3,800 Dutch-linked accounts are with one Swiss bank, which the Dutch authorities would not name.

Artis zoo managed to successful artificially inseminate false gharial this week. As far as is known, this is the first time in the world that artificial insemination was successfully done on this species of crocodile, Artis announced in a press release

The zoo has had this endangered species of crocodile in residence since 1887. There are only an estimated 2,500 false gharials in the wild. They can be found in Malaysia, southern Myanmar and on the Indonesian islands of Borneo, Java and Sumatra.

King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima's state visit to Australia and the simultaneous trade mission was a success. The trade mission brought in about 125 million euros in orders to Dutch businesses, Minsiter Henk Kamp of Economic Affairs announced in Brisbane on Friday, the Telegraaf reports.

The trade mission was comprised of 95 companies, that traveled in the wake of the Royals on their state visit. Dutch companies and their Australian partners signed contracts and cooperation agreements in a number of sectors, including water, healthcare, horticulture, IT and infrastructure.

King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima commemmorated the victims of flight MH17 by visiting the Australian monument for the victims in Canberra with Australian Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull. They placed sunflowers at the monument commemorating the 38 Australians killed in the airline disaster in Ukraine, NU.nl reports.

The monument is located at the Australian Parliament in Canberra. Ministers of Foreign Affairs Bert Koenders and Julie Bishop also laid flowers at the monument.

A group of 18 families, frustrated by the Netherlands’ slow pace at investigating the crash of flight MH17, are calling on Prime Minister Mark Rutte to pressure Russia, Ukraine, and the United States into releasing raw radar images taken on the day of the crash. They are angered that Russia vetoed a proposal last July to try suspects in the MH17 explosion at the International Criminal Court, and that it will still take another six months before the Netherlands decides how to proceed with a prosecution, if any is to take place.
