New ranking: Amsterdam the best, Emmen the worst cities to live in
Amsterdam is the nicest city to live in the Netherlands and has been for the past decade, according to the Atlas for Municipalities. Emmen is the worst, RTL Nieuws reports.
The Atlas ranks the 50 largest municipalities in the Netherlands on 50 points, including the number of jobs in the area, cultural offerings, safety in the city and proximity to nature.
For the past 10 years the top three places remained the same - Amsterdam in 1st place, followed by Utrecht and Amstelveen. Haarlem took 4th place this year, rising two spots and knocking Den Bosch down to 5th place. Nijmegen, Eindhoven and Dordrecht are also quickly becoming more and more attractive to live in.
The bottom five cities are Venlo, down three places to 46th place, Heerlen, Nisserwaard, Sittard-Geleen and Emmen. Rotterdam at 17th place.
