Scout leader gets 18 months for sexual relations with girl, 12

A 45 year old man from Duiven was sentenced to 18 months in prison, 12 of which conditionally suspended, on Friday for having a sexual relationship wit ha 12 year old girl for two years. He is also not allowed to have contact with the girl and has to continue his psychiatric treatment, the Gelderlander reports. The prosecutor demanded 27 months in prison, six conditionally suspended. But the court opted for a shorter sentence, following medical experts advice that the suspect should not be kept away from intensive psychiatric treatment for too long. The man was the girl's scout leader when their relationship started. In 2012 he asked the then 12-year-old girl to look after his child. He seduced the girl and the two had regular, unprotected sex for two years, according to the newspaper. The girl only told someone about the relationship after the man broke off the relationship.
