Daughters narrowly rescued from house fire; Dad in custody

The police arrested a man on Sunday for setting fire to his home on Prins Bernhardlaan in Best while his two daughters were still inside. A neighbor managed to rescue the girls, aged 8 and 15 years, from the burning building in time. Both daughters and the neighbor were taken to the hospital, according to the police. The girls inhaled a lot of smoke, but both were conscious. The neighbor injured his knee in the rescue. The fire department managed to get the fire under control fairly quickly. But the house was completely destroyed and is uninhabitable, according to the Gelderlander. The father was not hurt in the fire. He is in custody for further investigation, according to the police.
