Silent march, vigil planned for severed head victim

A silent march is being held for murdered 23-year-old Nabil Amzieb in Amsterdam on Sunday. The march will begin on the Museumplein at noon, from where participants will walk to Amstelveenseweg, ending in front of closed shisha lounge Fayrouz around 3:00 p.m., AT5 reports. Amzieb seems to be the latest victim of the gang war raging in Amsterdam these past years. His severed head was found in front of the Fayrouz lounge on March 9th. His decapitated body was found the day before, in a burning car on Mijehof. Amzieb did have a crime record, but was not involved in any serious crime, as far as is known. Marijn Schrijver, co-author of the book Mocro Mafia, believes that his head being placed in front of a known criminal hangout is a clear signal to other criminals in the underworld. On Tuesday the police released surveillance camera footage showing the man responsible for placing the head. Since then they received some 20 tips.
