Early morning shooting rattles Almere; Victim in critical cond.

A man was seriously injured in a shooting incident on Hendrik Marsmanstraat in Almere on Tuesday morning. An ambulance crew was dispatched to the scene at 6:53 a.m. Fire crews responded to reports of a car fire on Wodanstraat three minutes later. A source told Omroep Flevoland that the likely getaway car was found burned-out in the Homeruskwartier in Almere Poort. Wodanstraat is located in this area. If this car is indeed the getaway car, the method used in this shooting is the same as in most of the gang-related assassinations in and around Amsterdam over the past few years. The police closed down the area around the shooting and is conducting and investigation. The victim was rushed to the hospital in critical condition, according to the police. Paramedics on the responding ambulance were told that they would likely have to resuscitate the victim. An Air ambulance crew responded to the scene 15 minutes after the ambulance was dispatched.
