Rotterdam mayor rushed to safety on suspicious car find; three arrested

Rotterdam mayor Ahmed Aboutaleb was rushed to safety on Thursday night after a suspicious car was found near the restaurant where he was having dinner. A SWAT team responded and three men were arrested in a nearby park. The street was closed down while the car was investigated. According to broadcaster NOS, the car involved is a white Mercedes with Belgium license plates. The license plate was recognized as "suspicious" at the Hazeldonk border. The police stopped investigating the car around 1:00 a.m. on Friday morning. According to BNR, nothing out of the ordinary was found. A spokesperson for Aboutaleb told NOS that the Mayor is doing well.
