Drugs found in suspicious Rotterdam car; Mayor unfazed by commotion

Only a small amount of drugs was found in the suspicious vehicle that caused quite the commotion in Rotterdam on Thursday night. Rotterdam Mayor Ahmed Aboutaleb, who was evacuated from a nearby restaurant after the car was found, is unfazed by the events. Three men, aged 20, 22 and 23 years old, were arrested. According to AD, papers found in the car show that one of the suspects came from Molenbeek and traveled to Turkey early in September. The lawyer representing the 22 year old suspect told broadcaster NOS that his client was in Rotterdam looking for drugs. He was arrested in Breda earlier this week, for possession of drugs and a gas pistol, but was not arraigned. According to the lawyer, the arrest made him leave Breda and go to Rotterdam to find drugs. The commotion did not phase Mayor Aboutaleb, who told RTV Rijnmond that he was not frightened by the need to evacuate. After being informed of the situation "I immediately walked down the stairs, got into the car and went home", the Mayor said to the broadcaster. "I saw the car, but left the investigation in the hands of the security services." He added that he had a restful night's sleep.
