More than 30 weapons found in Amsterdam home

The police found more than 30 weapons in an Amsterdam home on Saturday after arresting two Amsterdam residents during a traffic check, the police announced on Wednesday. The car carrying the two suspects was pulled over after the Automatic Number Plate Recognition system signaled that the car's license plate was on the system. The police checked the driver's licence and registration and searched the car and both occupants. Officers found hard drugs, believed to be cocaine, on the passenger and multiple phones, bags of cannabis and a knuckle duster on the driver. Both men, aged 24 and 26 years old, were arrested on on suspicion of violating the Weapons and Ammunition Act and possession or trafficking of drugs. According to one police officer, the 24 year old man had pictures of weapons on his phone. Because of this the Public Prosecutor gave the police permission to search his home. In his house the police found more than 30 weapons. The weapons included a loaded revolver, stun guns, various knives, an air pistol, blackjacks, peppers spray and tear gas. They also found illegal fireworks. All weapons and fireworks were seized. The suspects remained in custody until Justice released them on Tuesday. They will have to appear in court on a later date.
