Suspicious package closes Amsterdam's Rijksmuseum

Police in Amsterdam closed the Rijksmuseum on Sunday morning after an unusual object was found near the entrance. The national museum was evacuated by 10:30 a.m., and reopened about thirty minutes later, police said. “Due to a suspicious package, subway of the Rijksmuseum and museum itself are temporarily closed,” Amsterdam police said on Twitter. “Sorry for inconvenience.” The Explosives Ordnance Disposal unit of the police department raced to the scene, but quickly determined the package was not dangerous.
