Elderly driver lost control in fatal Carnival crash

The accident in Ter Apel on Saturday in which a woman died was caused by a handling error of the 81 year old motorist, NOS reports. The man lost control of his vehicle and rove into the carnival parade. The police initially assumed that the man had become ill before the accident, but the investigation showed that this happened after the accident. A 33 year old woman was killed when the car crashed into the audience. Five people were injured, including the two occupants of the car and the woman's parents. The woman's 2 year old son was also hit, but escaped unharmed.
