Family held hostage in armed robbery
A 41-year old business owner was attacked on Sunday evening while his wife and two daughters were held hostage during a robbery in their home. The incident took place at about 11:15 p.m. on Willem de Feschweg in Uithoorn, Noord Holland, police say.
That's when the victim arrived home and was jumped by four or five men at his front door. The men forced entry into his house, pushed the victim to the ground, bound him and possibly drugged him.
Clad in all black attire, the robbers then went upstairs where they discovered his 27-year old wife and two children sleeping. The wife was bound, and their 6-year-old daughter was taken from her bed and threatened, after which she was also tied up.
After a search of the home, the offenders demanded money and threatened to set the house on fire. During the course of events the man was also threatened with a knife, and sustained a wound to his thigh. The robbers reportedly left the house after minutes with a sum of cash and some valuable watches.
The men are an estimated 25 years old, around 1.8 to 1.9 meters tall, were clad in all black clothes and possibly of North African origin, police say
The police think there is a possibility the robbers had spent time watching the house, specifically targeting that home. Police have asked anyone who saw something strange in the area to call investigators working on the case.
