Drunk driver nearly kills cop

A man driving under the influence was apprehended on Saturday evening after he almost drove into a police officer. The officer managed to jump out of the way just in time. The driver, from Bruinisse, is being charged for attempted homicide. The driver (24) was signaled by the police to stop his vehicle on the Havendijk in Bruinisse during a traffic control operation. The man did not stop, but drove towards the police officer at 60 kilometers per hour. The police officer jumped out of the way just in time. The driver was pursued immediately. Soon afterwards, the driver was stopped. He seemed to have three times the legal limit of alcohol in his system. His driver's license has been seized.
