Video: Drunk driver cruises 500 meters down Rotterdam Metro tracks

The Rotterdam Oost police arrested a drunk driver who drove her car on the metro tracks for at least 500 meters. Video footage shows the car swerving around a corner, driving onto the tracks, and then continuing along the rails in front of the platform.

The police responded to the scene at around 12:30 a.m. on Friday after receiving a report of an abandoned vehicle on at a rail crossing. They found the car no less than a half-kilometer from the metro platform. Video footage recovered from security cameras there indicated that the vehicle was driving down the tracks that entire distance.

The video footage also showed that two people were in the car when it came around the corner. "Unfortunately, we only found one occupant who decided to tell us a different story several times," said one of the police officers involved.

"The occupant stated that she had been driving the vehicle." Police administered a breathalyzer test on the woman, which showed she was under the influence of alcohol. She was arrested.
