Deurne bans demonstrations

Mayor Mak of Deurne has banned demonstrations for the time being. In an emergency regulation he writes that gatherings of more than four people is no longer allowed. This regulation comes after a protest in Deurne on Sunday saw 40 young people demonstrate against the jewelry store owner's wife, who shot dead two burglars on Friday. The mayor made the decision after speaking with the police and the Public Prosecution Authority (OM). Mak wants to prevent new incidents. "The day before yesterday and yesterday I already called on people to keep the peace with each other", Mak writes on the municipality website. "Public order and safety cannot and is not allowed to be jeopardized." The emergency regulation will remain in force for an undetermined amount of time.
