A large protest by construction workers on the Malieveld in The Hague has come to an end and protesters have started to leave the city. The police made several arrests during the protest, but will only announce the actual number of arrests at the end of the day. Travelers' association ANWB expects a busy evening rush hour, especially around The Hague, as the protesters and their construction vehicles head home.

A difficult morning rush hour is expected as the construction sector is heading towards The Hague to protest against the government's nitrogen policy and PFAS standard. Traffic is piling up on various highways throughout the country, causing delays up to 90 minutes.

A demonstration against the Turkish offensive in northeastern Syria in Rotterdam on Wednesday evening got completely out of hand. Protesters and counter protesters clashed multiple times. Three police officers were injured. A total of 23 of protesters were arrested, the Rotterdam police said on Twitter.

Blockade protests for more action against climate change on Stadhouderskade and elsewhere in Amsterdam on Monday ended at around 9:00 p.m., the Amsterdam police said on Twitter. A total of around 90 people were arrested, around 30 of whom were still in custody on Monday night. The rest were sent home with a fine of 380 euros for not following police orders. On Tuesday the protesters are planning a demonstration in Vondelpark, they said on Twitter.

Around 50 protesters were arrested at a climate blockade on Stadshouderskade near the Rijksmuseum on Monday, the Amsterdam police confirmed to NOS at around 10:15 a.m. The protest for more action to be taken against climate change by action group Extinction Rebellion is still ongoing. The atmosphere is friendly, despite the arrests, three of the protesters said to NL Times.

After opening the new Museum Sophiahof in The Hague on Thursday, King Willem-Alexander stopped to speak to a group of demonstrators protesting against the opening of the museum, which focuses on the cultural and historical legacy of the Dutch East Indies. The protesters are descendants of soldiers and civil servants who worked under the administration of the then Dutch East Indies, but never received salary during the Japanese occupation between 1942 and 1945, NOS reports.

Parliamentarians from both opposition and coalition parties expressed concerns about increasingly intimidating anti-abortion, anti-choice demonstrations at abortion clinics in the Netherlands. Mayor John Jorritsma of Eindhoven must allow Pegida to demonstrate in the city, according to National Ombudsman Reinier van Zutphen. By banning a protest the anti-Islam movement requested for Thursday, the mayor "damages Pegida's fundamental right" to demonstrate, Van Zutphen said to Omroep Brabant. "We must look carefully at whether we can give Pegida another chance to exercise that fundamental right."

Mayor John Jorritsma of Eindhoven decided not to allow a demonstration by anti-Islam movement Pegida in the city on Thursday. According to the mayor, there are concerns that the demonstration will lead to a serious disruption of public order, RTL Nieuws reports.

Pegida wanted to demonstrate against "Islamization and Muslim violence" in Eindhoven on Thursday. The movement planned to feature cartoons of the prophet Mohammed as part of their protest, according to the broadcaster.

Seven counter-protesters who were arrested at a Pegida demonstration in Eindhoven on Sunday, were released again on Wednesday, the Public Prosecutor said. Three minors also arrested at the protest were released on Sunday after questioning. Pegida announced a new protest in the city this coming Sunday.

Around a hundred activists occupied a pig farm in Boxtel on Monday in a protest meant to draw attention to animal suffering in the Netherlands. A few dozen farmers also gathered for a counter protest. The police eventually put an end to the action. Dozens of protesters were arrested, NU.nl reports.

The police arrested 20 people on Friday morning during an unannounced demonstration at the Shell headquarters in The Hague. Twelve were arrested for committing vandalism, eight for not following police orders, NU.nl.

The demonstrators sprayed graffiti on the walls of the building, among other things. Some 50 demonstrators in total showed up to protest at Shell headquarters on Carel van Bylandtlaan.

The police took the detainees to a police station for processing. A area was made available for the remaining protesters to hold their demonstration.

A 21-year-old woman from Nijmegen who was arrested on Monday for involvement in death threats made against FvD leader Thierry Baudet during an anti-racism protest in Amsterdam, regrets what she did. In a statement to the police, she said that "underestimated the impact of her words", NU.nl reports.

The woman was released again on Tuesday evening.

On Monday the police arrested a 21-year-old woman from Nijmegen for involvement in threats made against FvD leader Thierry Baudet during an anti-racism demonstration in Amsterdam on Saturday. 

Over the weekend, videos filmed at the protest were posted online, showing a protester with a scarf over their face singing: "If you want to shoot Thierry, then say bang."

The police and municipality of The Hague prevented a clash between ADO fans and Ajax supporters on Sunday. The intention was that Ajax fans would protest on the Maliveld in The Hague on Sunday, but mayor Pauline Krikke changed the location at the last moment to prevent an altercation between fans of the two football clubs. Six ADO supporters were arrested on the Malieveld, RTL Nieuws reports.

Three persons were arrested after a demonstration by anti-Islam movement Pegida in the Utrecht district of Zuilen on Wednesday evening. Towards the end of the demonstration, the situation became unsettled and there were various vandalism incidents. The detainees were counter-protesters, RTV Utrecht reports.

A handful of Pegida supporters gathered at the Abi Bakr Issidik mosque around 7:00 p.m., where they watched a film about Islam in a cordoned off area. A group of opponents gathered outside the fences.

A group of around 10 protesters gathered at the Iranian embassy in The Hague on Wednesday. A number of them climbed over the embassy's fence. Others pelted the building with objects. The police arrested four of the demonstrators, the Volkskrant reports.

The protesters were shouting slogans like "Iran regime terrorist", according to the newspaper.

Several parties in the lower house of Dutch parliament voiced strong criticism on Prime Minister Mark Rutte's response to disturbances around various Sinterklaas celebrations in the Netherlands over the weekend. The Prime Minister's call for no demonstrations in the three weeks that Sinterklaas is in the Netherlands in particular led to bewilderment from the D66, GroenLinks, SP, PvdA, ChristenUnie, PvdD and DENK, among others, NU.nl reports.

To prevent the national arrival of Sinterklaas from getting out of hand, the municipality of Zaandstad is implementing extra security measures and strict rules for protestors. Demonstrators will have fixed areas for their protests, far away from other protesting groups, and there will be access gates and extra searches at the arrival on November 17th, ANP reports.

The area where Sinterklaas arrives, will be closed down with fences. Visitors can only enter through access gates, where bags and jackets will be searched. No glassware or drones will be allowed.

Rotterdam mayor Ahmed Aboutaleb was authorized to ban a demonstration against Zwarte Piet in November 2016, the court in Rotterdam ruled. Activist group Kick Out Zwarte Piet wanted to protest in Rotterdam during the arrival of Sinterklaas in November 2016. Mayor Aboutaleb banned this demonstration out of fear of disturbances. Some 200 demonstrators were arrested.

The city of Utrecht will not allow Pegida to demonstrate at the Ulu mosque in the Lombok neighborhood on Wednesday. The municipality offered the anti-Islam movement an alternative location for their demonstration, near the police station in the area, RTV Utrecht reports.

A demonstration by action group Code Rood in Farmsum, Groningen, again came to a clash with the police on Wednesday evening. The police again used batons to keep activists away from the NAM facility's fence, something the police later said they regretted. According to the police, batons should not have been used, but they were due to a communication error, NOS reports.
