Teen arrested in A'dam West shooting
A 19-year old from Amsterdam was apprehended Monday morning in connection to a shooting on Wednesday the 5th of March.
The shooting occurred on the Johan Huizingalaan at 3:15 in the afternoon at a sandwich shop in the presence of several customers.
A man of 19 was injured in the shooting. Two culprits escaped on a scooter in the direction of Robert Fruinlaan.
The incident was especially problematic in that, during the daylight hours, there were several middle-school kids in the shop. The police was very worried about the impact the incident would have on those present. They offered counseling for eye witnesses at the police department August Allebéplein, where officers and specialists from Slachtofferhulp (victim aid) were present to provide care.
The Bureau of Investigation immediately launched an inquiry into the incident. Some information led to the 19-year old suspect who was apprehended on Monday in a home in Amsterdam-West. The police investigation is ongoing, and more arrests are not ruled out.
Any more witnesses to the shooting, or those who may have information, are being called upon to contact the District Bureau West via 0900-8844.
