Body found in pond sparks Breda mystery

A body was found on Monday evening in the waters of a pond in the Sonsbeeckpark in Breda. The surroundings of the Sonsbeeckpark has been cordoned off while police officers are investigating the identity of the body, tracks and cause of death. At around 7:15 p.m. police officers blocked the area with black screens. The body was found on the side of the Julianalaan in a bed of reeds at the side of the pond. According to a police spokesperson, the body was discovered at around 5:45 p.m. About the cause, he could not yet say anything. "We are keeping all options open", the spokesperson said. The Breda police said on their Twitter account that the scenarios could be "accident, suicide or crime." The police are also looking if any missing persons reports could be linked to this case. It is also unclear if the person is a man or a woman. On Monday evening, the police spokesperson expected investigations to take some time. At around 10 p.m. this proved true. "Track investigations Sonsbeeckpark will still take a long time", the police announced. According to the Twitter account, Breda Police is continuing investigations today.
