Video: Barbecue accident leaves two children critically wounded, two adults hurt

An accident involving a barbecue left two children critically injured in Breda on Monday afternoon. They were rushed to a hospital in Rotterdam under police escort. Two adults sustained more minor injuries, Omroep Brabant reported.

Exactly what happened is not yet clear. Emergency services responded to Belgiëplein in large numbers, deploying four ambulances, a trauma helicopter, and police to the scene.

According to the broadcaster, the two children sustained severe injuries to their faces and arms. The adults had minor injuries to their arms and hands.

The nature of the injuries was not disclosed, but Rotterdam has the nearest specialized burns center to Breda.

The police cordoned off the area around Belgiëplein during the response.
