Man shot dead in car in Amsterdam Noord

A 31-year-old man was shot dead in his car this morning around 07:45 in de Den Helderstraat in Amsterdam Noord. Police initiated a criminal investigation, as several neighbors reported hearing multiple gunshots. The first police on the scene discovered the mortally wounded man. Paramedics were not able to save the victim. Witnesses reported hearing multiple shots fired. The street was closed off for investigation. Later in the day, police also discovered a car that had been set on fire not far from the scene. The car was discovered on Hilverbeekstraat, less than a kilometer from the initial crime scene. Police are not releasing the victim's name. Police have asked witnesses to contact detectives at 0900-8844.
