Inspection closes pharmacy Rotterdam

A Rotterdam pharmacy has been closed down for at least a week by Healthcare Inspection. The reason is the absence of a pharmacist. The pharmacy was only staffed by two inexperienced assistants, according to the inspection report that came out on Tuesday.

The Schiermond pharmacy did not practice sufficient control when preparing recipes. There was no temperature monitoring available in the medicine storage in the fridge, children's recipes were not monitored separately, and high-risk drugs were not checked by a pharmacist.

The deplorable situation put patients at serious risk. If the pharmacist manages to get things in order within a week, the pharmacy may reopen, according to the IGZ.
