Extra Money For Schiphol Lelystad Link
An additional investment in the rail link between Schiphol and Lelystad will enable to let ride, every 10 minutes, an Intercity or Sprinter on the track from 2023.
State Secretary Wilma Mansveld (Railways)) agreed this on Wednesday with the regional authorities. For two extra tracks near Weesp, 126 million euro has been budgetized.
Travelers don’t need to think anymore about when the train is coming if these plans are implemented, since they will ride ongoing, according Mansveld. "In addition, these investments also stimulate economic development and mean a big boost to employment."
The regional administrators are satisfied. According to the Amsterdam alderman Eric Wiebe, the investment in the high-frequency rail will improve the economic competitiveness of the Amsterdam metropolitan region.
The whole package of measures which was agreed on on Wednesday, cost nearly half a billion euro. Earlier it was already decided to invest 900 million euro in the track.
